Jane K. Sherzer is the President of the Michigan Certified Development Corporation, joining that organization in April 2004.
During her tenure as President the Michigan Certified Development Corporation has been recognized with several awards including the prestigious SBA Lender of the Year in 2006. A consistent leader in the state, the MCDC is readily recognized as the leading Certified Development Corporation in the state of Michigan. Since its inception in the early 1980’s the MCDC has enjoyed consistent growth and a well managed portfolio, resulting in national rankings in the top quartile of all CDC’s in the US.
Prior to her role with the MCDC, Ms. Sherzer enjoyed a successful career in commercial banking throughout the state of Michigan. With more than 20 years tenure, Jane was elected First Vice President at Bank One, and also held a senior position at Fifth Third Bank.
Jane holds a BBA degree from the University of Iowa. She serves on the boards of several organizations dedicated to economic development in Michigan and human services organizations.
Eric Kehler is a Senior Loan Officer for the MCDC. Eric markets the SBA 504 program throughout the state of Michigan and works with lenders, small business owners, and other referral sources to secure SBA 504 financing. He works with the MCDC underwriters to review the eligibility and obtain the SBA approval.
Before joining the MCDC staff in 2004, Eric was the Administrator/Business Manager for 7 years for a faith-based non-profit organization in Lansing, Michigan. Prior to that, he worked for Ford Motor Credit Corporation for 7 years as a Loan Officer, Dealer Sales Representative, and the Customer Service Supervisor.
Eric earned his Bachelors degree in Business Management from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Mike Ufford is a Senior Loan Officer for the MCDC. Mike markets the SBA 504 program throughout the state of Michigan and works with lenders, small business owners, and other referral sources to secure SBA 504 financing. He works with the MCDC underwriters to review the eligibility and obtain the SBA approval.
Prior to joining the MCDC, Mike spent the last 22 years working in the commercial loan arena in Southeastern Michigan, holding commercial lending, credit administration, and commercial loan management positions, in both large regional banks and small community banks.
Mike earned his Bachelors degree in Bank Management from Wayne State University and his Master of Finance degree from Walsh College.
Marcia Ventura is a Senior Loan Officer for the MCDC. Marcia markets the SBA 504 program throughout Southeast Michigan and works with lenders, small business owners, and other referral sources to secure SBA 504 financing. She works with the MCDC underwriters to review the eligibility and obtain the SBA approval.
Prior to joining the MCDC, Marcia spent the last 24 years working as a commercial Relationship Manager in Southeast Michigan at various financial institutions. Ventura brings to MCDC extensive financial industry knowledge and solid executive experience in business development, commercial loan origination and portfolio management.
Marcia earned her Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Kalamazoo College and her Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Illinois – Champaign/Urbana.
Scott Vroegindewey is a Senior Loan Officer for the MCDC. Scott markets the SBA 504 program throughout Greater Grand Rapids Michigan and works with lenders, small business owners, and other referral sources to secure SBA 504 financing. He works with the MCDC underwriters to review the eligibility and obtain the SBA approval. Scott joins MCDC with a solid career in the banking industry, with extensive experience in commercial loan portfolio management and SBA lending programs specific to Michigan. Most recently he served as a Commercial Loan Officer at Macatawa Bank in the Ottawa, Kent, and Northern Allegan markets.
Scott Vroegindewey graduated from the Seidman School of Business at Grand Valley State University with an MBA degree, and prior to that he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Hope College.
Kevin Meyer is a Senior Loan Officer for the MCDC. Kevin markets the SBA 7(a) loan program throughout the state of Michigan and works with lenders and small business owners to secure SBA 7(a) financing. He assists lenders in determining eligibility, structure and packaging for SBA 7(a) loans.
Kevin joined the MCDC in 2010 with more than 15 years of experience in the banking industry, holding various positions in mortgage lending, credit administration and underwriting.
Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Resource Management from Michigan State University and is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Darlene J. Merritt joined MCDC in November of 2006. She is responsible for marketing our SBA 504 program to our lending partners in the northern Michigan counties of the Lower Peninsula. Darlene recently retired after 36 years in banking. During her banking career she held several positions including Community Bank President with Fifth Third Bank in Cadillac. She was active in economic development thru the Cadillac Industrial Fund, Cadillac Area Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Development Authority.
Darlene is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - School of Bank Administration.
David Kramer is the Senior Underwriter for the MCDC. Dave has been with the organization since 1998. In that time he has served in a variety of capacities within the organization. In his current role as Senior Underwriter, David oversees all MCDC underwriting functions, including eligibility determination, credit evaluation, SBA packaging and approval
David holds a Bachelors degree in Accounting from Central Michigan University.
Marnie Spitzley is an Underwriter for the MCDC. Marnie joined the MCDC staff during the summer of 2011. She interned with the company before becoming a full-time employee. Marnie’s responsibilities include financial analysis of loan applicants, eligibility determination, loan packaging, and approval.
Marnie graduated from Aquinas College in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Business and a minor in Accounting.
Kerri Nelson is a Loan Closer with the Michigan Certified Development Corporation (“MCDC”). Her responsibilities focus on getting SBA approved loans closed as quickly as possible. Kerri recently joined MCDC in June, 2011, after being a lifelong resident of Olympia, Washington. She has over 24 years experience in retail banking, residential and commercial lending, escrow closing and real estate sales. Kerri earned her Associate of Applied Business at Olympia Technical Community College in WA.
Susanne Towler is the Loan Closer for the Michigan Certified Development Corporation. She joing the MCDC staff in November 2007. Susanne is responsible for the processing and closing of the loans. Prior to her position with the MCDC, Susanne worked in the mortgage banking/retail industry for over 17 years in various capacities.
Rachel Bakken is the Portfolio Manger for the MCDC. Rachel joined the MCDC staff in July 2006. She is responsible for the oversight of the existing loan portfolio, management of complex/routine servicing actions (i.e. assumptions, subordinations, and payments), customer visits, and credit reviews. Prior to her position with the MCDC, Mrs. Bakken worked as commercial credit analyst with Republic Bank in the Lansing area.
Rachel holds a Bachelors degree in Finance from Central Michigan University.
Matthew is the Loan Portfolio Analyst for MCDC. Matt joined the company during the summer of 2010. Prior to his arrival at MCDC, Matt was employed at Mason State Bank as a Credit Analyst.
Matt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Central Michigan University, and a Masters in Business Administration from Cornerstone University.
Matt assists in the oversight of the existing loan portfolio, management of all servicing actions, customer visits, and credit reviews.
JoAnn is the sales assistant at Michigan Certified Development Corporation (MCDC) joining in April 2008. JoAnn is responsible for administrative support for the lending staff and ongoing communications to our customers.
Prior to her role with MCDC JoAnn enjoyed a successful career in banking for over 15 years in various positions.
JoAnn holds a Certificate of Small Business Management at Lansing Community College.
Sandra Vergeson is the Administrative Assistant for the Michigan Certified Development Corporation. She joined the staff of the MCDC in November 2002 after her retirement from the State of Michigan. As Administrative Assistant of the MCDC, Ms. Vergeson provides the administrative support for the MCDC Board of Directors and the MCDC staff, as well as, assistance with routine loan portfolio servicing.
Prior to her role with the MCDC, Ms. Vergeson’s career spanned many years in State government from administrative support to management of a state wide program.
