Portfolio Administrator

About the Job: MCDC is currently seeking an experienced Portfolio Administrator for our East Lansing office. Duties include but are not limited to: monitoring and managing collection of required documents, customer communication, resolving routine servicing actions, assisting Loan Officers and Portfolio Analyst in the oversight of the existing Loan Portfolio. This position reports directly to the MCDC President.

Preferred knowledge and skills: The ideal candidate must possess strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, be detail oriented and have the ability to work well in a team setting as well as the motivation to work independently. At least two years of experience in a professional office, commercial bank or credit union is preferred. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

A Business or Finance background is preferred but not a requirement.

About the Job

  • Negotiates Lender Service Provider Agreements (LSP) with potential client financial institutions on behalf of MCDC.

  • Presents advantages of processing 7a loans with MCDC to Client Senior Management.

  • Provides consulting assistance to MCDC Loan Officers and Clients regarding project eligibility and loan structure; offers loan assistance for projects in the closing, post close and servicing phases.

  • Utilizes the MCDC’s authorization to perform specific duties on behalf of the Lender as an Authorized SBA LSP.

  • Conducts training for Client Loan Officers in large and small group settings.

  • Creates project specific SBA checklists and SBA forms for Client.

  • Reviews Approval Packages for acceptability including Credit Memos, related schedules, and third party reports (such as Environmental, Survey, Appraisal, etc.). Identifies and communicates to client any possible issues and notifies the Loan Officer as items are resolved. 

  • Utilizes E-Tran on behalf of the client, to submit the 7a Loan Package to the SBA for approval.

  • Addresses all screen outs on behalf of client and borrower. Reviews authorization and advises client of any changes or deviations between the authorization and financial institution’s credit memo.

  • Reviews environmental reports and appraisal reports for acceptability and processing with SBA.

  • Prepares and submits any final authorization amendments to SBA.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • A high level of accuracy is required; Must demonstrate the ability to handle multiple projects

  • An understanding of fundamental business financial analysis is required; Familiarity with spreadsheet and word processing is required

  • Knowledge of SBA 7a Lending is not required but highly desirable

Qualifications

  • This position requires knowledge equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, accounting, or a combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of customer sales experience, credit analysis and/or SBA 7a closing for commercial lending is preferred.

Competitive Compensation Package

  • Pay Range: $50,000 - $80,000 plus incentive (commensurate on experience), Full Benefit and Retirement Package, Paid Vacation and Sick Time, 10 paid Holidays
