Charity Funding Inc. was started by Mr. Frazier in 1993. It is a for-profit company that assists non-profit entities with their car donation programs. Charity Funding facilitates the acceptance/pickup of the vehicles being donated, administrative duties, and the liquidation of the vehicles. Charity keeps a portion of the sales price of the vehicle and sends the rest to the non-profit companies. The company’s largest customers are Mother Waddles, Charity Motors, and Vietnam Veterans, Inc.
In 2010, one of the company’s largest customers, Purple Heart, made the decision to process their car donation program in house. With the loss of this customer, Charity decided to find a new location with better proximity to not only its customers, but also the individuals donating their vehicles. A building in Rochester Hills was found that provided them with the space needed, along with some extra space that could be leased out.
With the assistance of MCDC and the SBA 504 Loan Program, Charity was able to purchase the new building with only 10% equity, and at the same time, obtained an advantageous long-term interest rate on the loan.
