Capitol Harley-Davidson was started by Dave Bell in 1983. Dave constructed this new building in 2003 and financed it with a bank. Since that time, the original bank was acquired, and the new institution unfortunately elected to reduce its business in Michigan. Dave needed to refinance his mortgage as soon as possible, so he teamed up with LAFCU and MCDC. Dave was able to refinance his loan with very little down payment because he was able to use the equity in his property. He also received a 20-year SBA 504 loan with a low, fixed interest rate.
Capitol Harley sells new and used Harleys and repairs and stores bikes. They also receive a lot of business for custom work. The building is larger than most Harley-Davidson dealerships at 30,400 sq.ft., with another 7,425 sq.ft. storage mezzanine.
